Using an acoustic guitar with the built in microphone works for some purposes but is not optimal. As far as recording, I use iReal Pro to generate ad-lib midi piano parts in various styles and if I need anything specific I write it out in MuseScore and import the midi file into Logic.

Connectivity is key when dealing with technology, and the Studio MIDI Guitar delivers with TRS 3.5mm MIDI out, USB-C MIDI Out, and even Bluetooth for connecting to mobile devices. We recommend a digital interface (using the lightning connector) over analog (via headphone jack), preferably with input gain control. The C-shaped, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard has 24 frets and a truss rod, so you can adjust the action to perfection. From low to high, the notes were BbEbAbDbGbB on the 6th and 7th. The technology has been validated by thousands of guitarists over the years. Midi Guitar is more CPU intensive, but the tracking is more reliable on the highest frets. They also have a helpful walkthrough available via their Help menu. I just finished an extensive side by side comparison of my Fishman Triple and Jam origin Midi Guitar 2 on a newer IPAD Air(I did the comparison last night and repeated it today). MIDI Guitar is over 10 years in development(!) and based upon state-of-the-art polyphonic pitch detection and –prediction technology that can accurately recognize guitar playing and -articulation with very low latency and without spurious hits. You can tweak some parameters in MIDI Guitar to get the best results. I tried Jam Origin Midi Guitar a couple years ago on an Ipad and the results were not very good compared to my Fishman Triple Play.
